This morning we listened to Kirti’s story. Living in India she was beaten by Hindu villagers for becoming a Christian. However, many others became believers too, but the beatings continued. Her husband was killed and she was driven out. But God looked after her and she found herself in coronavirus lockdown with Christian relatives.
We learnt how the Fulani persecute Christians in Nigeria and show that the devil only wants to steal, kill and destroy. Not only do Christians have to deal with physical attacks on them and the burning down of their houses, but they also have to deal with the problems caused by the Coronavirus. For example, more food aid is given out to Muslim communities than to Christian communities.
We were encouraged to hear about young people in one area of Malaysia being able to attend Christian camps in a predominantly Muslim country. And they all have access to Bibles whilst other areas are not so tolerant.
We then heard about Marta. She was given by her mother to the local witchdoctor when she was an infant, so that the family would have luck! Sadly, what happened to her was terrible and she is still being healed from her traumas to this day, but the good news is that she became a Christian and managed to get away from the witchdoctor.
